Wedding & Event Photo Sharing Apps Compared

There are a lot of ways to collect your guests' photos: disposable-camera apps, shared albums and QR-code tools like Relivv. They differ in the things that decide how many photos you actually end up with. Here is what to check, and how the main options compare. We make Relivv, so read our comparisons with that in mind; every competitor fact links to its source.

Six questions to ask any photo-sharing app

  1. 1

Does every guest need to install an app?

Each install step loses guests, older relatives first. Browser-based tools get more uploads.

  2. 2

Do guests have to create an account?

A login screen at a reception is where most uploads die.

  3. 3

Is there a live slideshow for the venue?

A screen filling up with photos is what makes guests keep uploading during the night.

  4. 4

What does it cost per event, all-in?

Check whether the price is one-time or a subscription you have to remember to cancel.

  5. 5

How long are the photos kept, and can you download them all?

Every service deletes eventually. One-click download of everything is what matters.

  6. 6

    Are videos included?

Speeches and first dances are videos. Some tools limit or charge extra for them.

Which kind of tool fits your event

Most guest photo tools are good at something. The useful question is not which one is best, but which one is best at the thing you care about. Start from the situation that sounds most like yours.

You want a screen at the venue that fills up during the evening

Look for a live slideshow that is included rather than sold as an extra. Relivv and Kululu include one on every plan, including the free ones. Guestpix and Wedibox include it on paid packages, WedUploader in its Premium package, and POV with its business essentials add-on.

You want the original files in your own storage, with no expiry date

WedUploader sends every upload straight into your Google Drive, so nothing expires while it stays there. Remember that the files count against your Google storage. Hosted tools such as Relivv keep files for a fixed period and let you download everything before it ends.

You want a game rather than an album

POV recreates the disposable camera: a limited number of shots per guest and a reveal later on. It suits groups who like the surprise. If you also want videos and photos guests took earlier in the day, a shared album collects more.

You also need a wedding website, invitations or RSVPs

Wedibox and Guestpix bundle those with the photo gallery, which saves juggling several services. If you already have a website and an RSVP tool, a photo-only tool means you are not paying for features twice.

It is a small event and you would rather not pay

Most of these tools have a free tier, and the limits differ: 100 uploads on Relivv and Kululu, 50 photos on Guestpix and Wedibox, and up to 10 guests on POV. Check what the free tier leaves out (video, slideshow, download) and how long files are kept.

Your guests speak different languages, or data location matters to you

Relivv’s guest pages follow each guest’s phone language in 19 languages, and its files are stored in the EU. Each comparison page summarises where the other provider says its data is stored, taken from its privacy policy.

Reading the prices without surprises

Prices in this market are built in different ways, so the headline number rarely tells the whole story. Some tools charge one fixed price per event, some price by the number of guests, and some sell the slideshow, video or longer storage as extras. A few unlock all your albums with one payment, which is good value if you have an engagement party, a shower and a wedding.

Check the currency and whether tax is included. Several of the tools we compare list prices in US dollars, at least one with tax added on top, and promotions come and go. Relivv lists prices in euros, VAT included where it applies. Compare the final amount on the day you buy, not the number on a comparison page, ours included.

Finally, check when the clock starts. Storage periods and upload windows may be counted from the event date, from the day you pay or from an activation date you choose. Whatever the rules, plan to download a complete copy soon after the event and keep it somewhere you control.

How we compare

Every fact about another product comes from that company's own pricing page, help pages or privacy policy, or, for a product that no longer exists, from an independent published source. Each comparison lists its sources at the bottom and the date we checked them. Relivv's own numbers come from the same plan limits the product enforces, so they cannot drift from what you get.

We do not give star ratings or scores, and we do not earn commission from any product we mention. We say where another tool is the better choice, because a comparison that only ever recommends us would not help you. Prices and features change: if you spot something out of date, tell us and we will check it again and correct the page.
